On your marks…

It’s the Great Winter Run tomorrow, a 5km jaunt around Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh which will go down in history as my first ever official race (unless you count the Carradale sack race back in ’83) and the official start of my running adventures. I’m reasonably psyched about it, hopeful that I’ll come in under 24 mins – the forecast winds notwithstanding – and looking forward to seeing what it’s like to race in a crowd as so far my training has been completely solitary. Hopefully I won’t get claustrophobic among all those bodies and freak out with the inevitable mass bloodshed which inevitably accompanies such episodes. The Evening News reckons 2,500 likeminded masochists will be along for the ride, wish me luck…
